This is the desert as memory, not record. The color runs hotter than any real twilight: magenta cliffs, an acid-yellow sun, a river the green of pool water. The artist paints in thick, deliberate strokes that refuse to flatten into a postcard. There's tension in it, beauty pushed almost past comfort, the southwest cranked until it hums. For collectors who like landscape with an edge, who'd rather feel a place than identify it. It belongs to the lineage of painters who treated the canyon as raw emotional material instead of scenery.
